The Bessa L is a scale focus Leica Screw Mount (aka M39) camera with TTL metering. It's well suited for wide lenses, because using scale focus accurately is easier with wide angles. Scale focusing means you turn the distance scale on the lens barrel to match the distance of your subject; this camera is built in a rangefinder style but does not have a rangefinder.
Voigtlander made lenses for this camera on top of compatible vintage lenses. Here, the Bessa-L is paired with a neutral angle of view (a 50mm f/3.5) in the form of an old Russian lens, which will give your photos a decidedly vintage look before you even get around to the focus. Film Supply Club recommends you get to know this setup focusing your first roll at infinity, and further acquaint yourself with this camera from there. You could also choose to add a shoe-mounted rangefinder later, to work with select lenses.
We photograph every individual camera that we sell. You will receive the camera in the photos. Please inspect photos for information about cosmetic condition.
