Introduced in 1970, The RB67 Professional is a 6x7 medium format SLR camera that creates stunning portraits and breathtaking close-up photography.

The RB67 Pro-SD or Professional SD as written on the body was released in 1990. It supports L series lenses along with 6×8 backs. These lenses require a slightly larger lens mount diameter, it is now 61mm instead of 54mm. Because the mount is a larger size an adapter is necessary in order to mount original and C lenses. K/L and L lenses do not require an adapter. The focusing distance scale has been changed and now has an additional listing for a 140mm lens. The Pro-SD roll film back is nearly the same functions as the Pro-S back, but the dark slide can be inserted on the left or right side of the back.

It uses uncompromising professional lenses to produce large detail-rich transparencies and negatives that deliver clarity and punch unparalleled in smaller format systems.  A user-friendly blend of mechanical dependability and electronic convenience, the RZ67's robust construction and surprising portability let you shoot with ease both in the studio and on location.

Originally released in 1982 the RZ67 has proven a landmark camera becoming widely respected among pros.  Mamiya introduced a successor in 1995, the RZ67 Pro II featuring half-stop shutter speeds and a dedicated fine focus control but also requiring new winders and AE Finders.

The biggest difference between RB67 and RZ67 is that the RB67 is completely mechanical. The RZ67 has also mechanical coupling between the parts, but the shutter is electronic, and parts are able to transmit exposure information with electronic couplings.

  • The first RB67 was introduced in 1970, and the RZ67 was introduced in 1982.

  • The RB67 is a pound or two heavier than the RZ67.

  • The RB67 is considered to be reliable in studios where the mechanical features are not bothersome, while the RZ67 does better in fast shooting applications.

  • The RZ67 can take many RB67 lenses, but this is not the case vice versa.
