This Maxxum -- one of the later ones -- feels more like a Canon Rebel in terms of heft and feel. Like all plastic-bodied 35mm SLRs of this era, it is quite capable and has more sophisticated metering than the older, leatherette-and-chrome class of 35mm SLRs. This camera offers a full program exposure mode plus Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, and Night Portrait settings. You can set this lens (28-80mm) to either autofocus or manual focus. Accepts DX-coded film between 25 and 5000 ISO. Shutter speeds from 1/30th to 1/2000th.
The data and time may be programmed through the year 2039, so you've got a number of years left of accurate dates!
