EOS Elan IIE

The Canon EOS Elan II is an autofocus 35mm SLR released in the mid 1990s.  This camera was sold as the EOS 55 in Japan and the EOS 50/50E in Europe.

Body SN: 9409282

We photograph each individual camera that we sell.  Please inspect photos for information about cosmetic condition.

Like other plastic-bodied SLRs of its type, its plastic construction belies its capabilities.

This camera will give you the manual, aperture priority, shutter priority, and program exposure modes which were developed throughout earlier decades; it also delivers multiple metering modes which are, as a rule, substantially more sophisticated than what some of those earlier stylish chrome bodies can offer.

The Eye-Controlled Focus system was absolutely nothing like what previous iterations (this was only the second camera with Eye-Controlled Focus) were capable of.  See link to Canon's website at the end of this listing for full details.

Bonus: this camera uses EF-mount lenses.  If you already own full-frame EF lenses that you use with a DSLR, most or all of your lenses should be transferable.  You should always check specific compatibility lens by lens and body by body, but if you enjoy shooting both film and digital (or are digital-only with a stable of EF lenses), this cross-compatibility lets you put the money you would have needed to spend on new lenses into film instead.

Per Canon, "Following the EOS 5, this is the second AF SLR camera featuring Eye Controlled Focus. The EOS 55’s Eye Controlled Focus is twice as fast as the EOS 5’s. Also, the Eye Control BASIS AF sensor enables Eye Controlled Focus even during vertical shooting. The new AF sensor also enables focus tracking with your eye while you press the shutter button halfway or during continuous shooting. The camera controls include a Command Dial (well received on other EOS cameras), LCD panel, a new AF mode dial on the camera’s right shoulder, a metering mode lever, and a film advance mode lever. This two-dial and two-lever system makes camera operation quick and easy."

You can still find the legacy listing for this camera on Canon's camera museum website and read all about it!

This camera needs one 2CR5 battery.  Don't forget to put one in your cart!
